In a statement released on Friday by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN confirmed that the maintenance will take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria informs the public that its maintenance team will carry out an annual preventive maintenance exercise on the 2x100MVA, TR3 & TR4 transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
This will result in unavoidable power outages, as Abuja DisCo will be unable to receive bulk power supply from these transformers during the maintenance period. Power will be restored as soon as the work is completed.”
According to TCN, the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro will experience power outages on Saturday, February 22, lasting for seven hours.
Similarly, on Sunday, February 23, areas including Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic Village, and surrounding locations will also be affected for the same duration.
The company emphasized that the temporary power cut is necessary, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power from the transformers during the maintenance process.
TCN apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured customers that power will be fully restored upon completion of the scheduled maintenance.
