In a recent progress report obtained by Vanguard, Transcorp Group, the parent company, highlighted its decade-long commitment to the power sector. TPL, a trailblazer in the industry, received the certificate of discharge from post-privatization monitoring, surpassing all requirements within the stipulated period. As of November 2023, TPL sent out 2,857,950.40MWh, representing 8.65% of the energy to the National Grid, with an average daily output of 357MW.

The company’s stellar performance in November 2023, ranking second only to Egbin, underscores its significant contribution to the energy landscape. TPL, currently boasting a generation capacity of 500MW, has the capability to power 1.6 million homes daily.

Under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Tony Elumelu, Transcorp Power has demonstrated remarkable improvement and achievements. The operational management takeover of Afam Power Asset three years ago led to the rehabilitation of the Afam 5 GT 20 Gas Turbine power-generating unit, contributing an additional 138MW to the national grid.

Transcorp Group, led by Group CEO Mrs. Owen Omogiafo, witnessed a notable increase in Transcorp Power’s available capacity, reaching an average of 749MW by September 2022. The installation of a new 150MVA 330/132/33kV Interbus Transformer at Delta IV Transmission Substation further enhanced grid stability for consumers in Ughelli, Warri, and surrounding areas.

Notably, Transcorp Power Limited has been at the forefront of innovation, becoming the first power generating company to be awarded three ISO Certifications for Quality, Environment, and Occupational Safety. The company has also expanded its reach, exporting power to the Benin Republic.

In terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Transcorp Power has initiated impactful programs in Ughelli, Delta State. The Vocational Skills Training and Entrepreneur Empowerment Program has empowered over 130 indigenes, providing them with entrepreneurial skills and tools to start and grow their businesses. The company has also adopted staff nursery and primary schools, ensuring a higher quality of education for the community’s children.

Additionally, the Transafam Environmental Transformation Initiative focuses on promoting a clean and healthy environment, emphasizing proper waste management and disposal. The company actively participates in community initiatives, including road maintenance and sanitation day exercises.As Transcorp Power continues to lead in energy generation, its commitment to social responsibility exemplifies a holistic approach to sustainable development and community engagement.
