Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has formally requested the House of Assembly to approve a supplementary budget of ₦99,221,503,569.90 for 2024. The supplementary budget includes allocations of ₦33,761,174,555.64 for personnel expenses, ₦34,492,888,103.44 for overhead costs, and ₦30,969,440,940.80 for capital investments. If approved, it will raise the total 2024 budget from ₦437,338,312,787 to ₦536,559,816,357.84.
State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Shanono, explained that the supplementary budget will help cover the new minimum wage and support crucial expenditures. He emphasized the government’s commitment to infrastructural development, human capital enhancement, and improvements in the health and education sectors.
Additionally, during the same session, Yusuf Aliyu, the representative for Nassarawa Constituency, proposed a motion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Gwagwarwa Mini Stadium. Aliyu highlighted that the stadium’s current poor condition has led to misuse, including drug trafficking and insecurity. He called for the stadium’s revitalization to promote sports development and enhance regional security, urging the government to prioritize this project.
