Kano Court Hands Six-Month Jail Sentences To 17 BDC Operators....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Justice Muhammad Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court in Kano State handed down convictions and sentences to 17 Bureau de Change operators on Monday for engaging in business activities without the requisite license, thus violating Section 57 (5) (b) of the Banks and Financial Institutions Act of 2020.

Each perpetrator received either a six-month prison term or a fine of N50,000.

The individuals found guilty, among them Ayuba Ibrahim, Idris Saidu, Idris Usman, Shuaibu Muhammad, Hamisu Ilyasu, and 12 others, admitted to the single charge against them during their brief trial.

In a coordinated effort involving law enforcement agencies such as the police and operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), the 17 bureau de change operators were apprehended at Wapa market in Fagge LGA just last week.

Subsequent to their arrest, security personnel confiscated 68,000 CFA francs and 30,000 rupees from the suspects, serving as evidence of their illicit activities.
