Alhaji Abba Sufi, the Director General of the board, revealed these developments on Wednesday, January 3, during an inspection of the truck at the board’s headquarters. According to Sufi, the truck, loaded with over 24,000 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages, was seized from smugglers along Zaria Road at midnight.

Highlighting the state’s zero-tolerance policy against the smuggling of alcohol and other intoxicating substances, Sufi praised the proactive efforts of Hisbah personnel in the region. He emphasized their commitment to preventing the illegal entry of beer into the state, particularly through its neighboring borders.

The Director General commended the collaboration between Hisbah personnel and stakeholders in the campaign against beer smuggling, aligning with the state’s adherence to Sharia law.

Acting Assistant Commander General of the Intelligent Crimes Dispatch Unit, Fu’ad Dorayi, reported that the truck driver and two accomplices were apprehended in connection with the confiscated shipment. Dorayi expressed gratitude for the support received from Dawakin Kudu Hisbah Command and other citizens. He urged people to remain vigilant and report any vehicles transporting suspicious products along specific routes, including Kano/Zaria Road, Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Road, Kano-Katsina Road, Kano-Maiduguri Road, and Kano-Hadejia Road.
