Represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, Adeleke emphasized the importance of commitment to one’s religion, urging traditional worshipers to take their practices seriously. He asserted that just as Islam and Christianity are recognized by the government, traditional religion should also be acknowledged, with corresponding responsibilities assigned to its practitioners.

During the event, which unveiled the 2024 New Year divine revelations of the Ifa oracle, Adeleke stressed the need for religious tolerance among leaders of different faiths. He debunked the association of traditional religion with criminal activities, emphasizing the peaceful nature of the traditional prayer session.

Addressing the audience in Yoruba, Adeleke stated, “Government should recognize the practitioners and apportion to them responsibilities. There should be no disagreement.” He called for mutual respect among followers of various religions and emphasized the importance of starting this tolerance among leaders.

In related news, the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrosheed Akanbi, expressed support for Adeleke’s potential second term in office. The governor, in turn, highlighted his administration’s success in areas where opposition parties initially doubted his ability. Both leaders conveyed these sentiments during an inter-religious service held in Osogbo to usher in the new year at the state secretariat in Abere.
