Kano State Administration Launches Committee For Minimum Wage Review

According to a statement from the Deputy Governor’s spokesman, Ibrahim Shuaibu, Governor Yusuf outlined that the committee’s role is to plan effectively for the new minimum wage and deliver practical recommendations for the state’s immediate action.

The committee is expected to submit its recommendations within three weeks. Governor Yusuf emphasized that the new minimum wage is a priority for enhancing state development across all sectors and urged the committee to produce convincing results, noting that their selection was based on merit.

The committee is led by Usman Bala, the Governor’s Special Adviser on State Affairs. Its members include Commissioner of Finance Ibrahim Fagge, Commissioner of Planning and Budget Alhaji Musa Shanono, and Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs Baba Halilu Dantiye. Other members are Baffa Gaya, Prof. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, Salahudeen Habib Isa, Ibrahim I. Boyi, Ibrahim Muhammad Kabara, Mustapha Nuraddeen Muhammad, Abdulkadir Abdussalam, Umar Muhammad Jalo, Hassan Salisu Kofar Mata, and Yahaya Umar.

Bala assured that the committee would conduct thorough data analysis and consider all relevant factors to provide a sustainable recommendation for the state government.
