Shettima clarified that President Tinubu is neither anti-north nor anti-Islam, citing his recent appointments in Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as evidence. He emphasized that these appointments reflect Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance, with northerners placed in key roles across sectors such as agriculture, security, communications technology, and health.
“President Tinubu has genuine intentions for the North,” Shettima asserted. He urged people to disregard misinformation about the President’s attitude towards the region.
On the issue of a planned nationwide protest, Shettima acknowledged the right to protest but cautioned against its potential negative impacts, noting that such demonstrations have historically been exploited by unscrupulous individuals, often leading to significant losses.
Shettima highlighted specific initiatives aimed at improving conditions in the North, such as the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC) and the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development. He stressed that these measures are designed to address pressing regional issues.
“President Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to transforming lives in the North through impactful initiatives,” he said. Shettima also mentioned Tinubu’s role in signing the Northwest Development Commission bill into law and approving the RSPIC Initiative, which aims to support victims of the northwest crisis.
Shettima urged media practitioners to support the current administration rather than protest, emphasizing that protests will not facilitate regional development. He called for unity and support for President Tinubu’s government and appealed for media efforts to mobilize regional residents to take advantage of federal opportunities to improve their lives.
