The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 27, 2025, by Kogi State MACBAN chairman, Umar Yusuf Damina, and his secretary, Adamu Mohammed, during a press briefing in Lokoja.

Damina explained that the meeting had become necessary due to mounting security pressures on Fulani herders, particularly as disputes over grazing rights and alleged crop destruction intensify.

“Fulani herders in Kogi will meet at the state headquarters in Lokoja this Saturday in light of the current insecurity. The session will review recurring herder-farmer conflicts across the state and seek practical, long-term solutions,” he said.

He urged all members to participate in the November 29, 2025 meeting, emphasizing that the discussions would address the root causes of tensions to prevent future clashes.

Recently, several agrarian communities in Kogi have accused herders’ cattle of damaging crops and farmlands, escalating tensions, particularly in local governments along the eastern axis.

Just two months ago, parts of Kogi East witnessed urgent interventions when herders signed a Memorandum of Understanding with host communities—brokered with the presence of security officials—to reduce hostilities.

Damina also called for increased vigilance, advising MACBAN members to remain alert amid a worsening national security environment.

“All members must stay security-conscious. The crisis of insecurity affects everyone, and every citizen has a role to play,” he added.
