Ahmad’s remarks came late Thursday in a post on (formerly Twitter), following Vice President Kashim Shettima’s reference to the former Kano State governor as “NNPP-APC” during a public event—an unusual phrase that many political analysts interpret as a hint of behind-the-scenes negotiations between Kwankwaso’s camp and the APC leadership.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reacting to the development, Ahmad described Shettima’s remark as a “powerful signal” suggesting Kwankwaso’s possible return to the APC.
“If nothing else, Vice President Shettima calling Senator Kwankwaso ‘NNPP-APC’ strongly indicates that the NNPP leader and his massive support base may soon join our great party, the APC,” Ahmad wrote.
A prominent APC figure in Kano, Ahmad hinted that such a political realignment could bring long-needed unity to the state’s political landscape.
“This move could pave the way for a united political front in Kano—something that has been greatly needed for the state’s progress and stability,” he added.
Kwankwaso, a former Defence Minister and influential northern leader, has remained a major opposition figure since contesting the 2023 presidential election under the NNPP.
