In a press briefing following a State Executive meeting in Owerri, Ihejiagwa explained that the leadership took the decision to suspend certain State Executive Committee members in order to uphold discipline within the party. He stated that the suspensions were a result of the members’ efforts to create a false crisis intended to cause division within the party.

The Chairman further accused the suspended members of discussing the party’s internal matters in public without following the proper procedures outlined in the party’s constitution, labeling their actions as insubordination and a breach of the party’s core values.

To ensure fairness, a five-member disciplinary committee, led by the party’s first State Deputy Chairman, Queen Osuala, has been set up to investigate the allegations against the suspended members.

The suspended individuals include the party’s State Secretary, Paulinus Udechukwu; Orlu Zonal Chairman, Charles Uzomba; Okigwe Zonal Chairman, Sunday Ike; and Owerri Zonal Chairman, Innocent Nwadavid. Also suspended are the State Legal Adviser, Emeka Ihejirika; State Woman Leader, Princess Chinedu Oleka; State Financial Secretary, Ikechukwu Osuaku; and State Organizing Secretary, Joseph Mbama, among others.

The LP Chairman expressed concern over the hardships faced by Imo citizens under Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration, accusing him of governing the state from abroad. He urged the Governor to return and experience firsthand the struggles of the people.

Ihejiagwa also mentioned that the National leadership is addressing the defections of certain elected members from the party and that legal action has been initiated against these individuals.
