Lady Praises Man’s Perfume On BRT, His Unexpected Reaction Leaves Her Uncomfortable
A Nigerian lady has shared an awkward encounter she allegedly had with a man on a BRT bus after complimenting him on the fragrance he was wearing.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman said she was seated beside the man when she noticed that his perfume smelled particularly good. She decided to compliment him and asked about the fragrance he was wearing.
“Sir, you smell so good. What fragrance are you wearing?” she reportedly asked.
According to her account, the man thanked her and mentioned the name of the perfume. She then responded, “Alright, cool,” believing the brief conversation had ended.
However, she said the interaction took an unexpected turn while the bus was still on its journey. The man reportedly asked for her name, and she introduced herself as “Dee.”
She alleged that the man subsequently told her, “I like you. Please give me your number.”
The lady said she declined to share her contact details, explaining that she was not interested in giving him her number. According to her, the man became upset and questioned why she had complimented him if she did not have romantic interest in him.
She said the reaction made her uncomfortable, prompting her to move to another seat even though there were several vacant seats elsewhere on the bus.
Reflecting on the experience, the woman questioned whether her simple compliment had been misunderstood as an indication of romantic interest.
She subsequently advised men not to automatically interpret compliments from women as signs of attraction.
“Dear men, not every woman who compliments you likes you. Take the compliment and keep moving,” she said.
Her account has sparked discussion about how seemingly casual interactions between strangers can sometimes be interpreted differently, particularly when compliments are mistaken for expressions of romantic interest.
