Lagos Court Initiates Trial Of Lecturer Over Alleged Rape Of StudentKolawole Muyiwa, a part-time lecturer in the Department of Primary Education and Early Childhood Development at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in Oto-Ijanikin, Lagos, appeared in the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday. The Lagos State Government had charged Muyiwa with rape on February 6, 2023, to which he pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors B.T. Boye and I.D. Solarin stated that the incident took place on October 11, 2021, at the college, violating Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
According to reports, the victim, then 18 years old, was a full-time student who had volunteered to help Muyiwa record scores in his office when the alleged assault occurred.
During the trial, Muyiwa revealed during cross-examination that he is married with children and claimed that the victim had consented to a relationship with him. He recounted that on the day of the incident, he met the victim at the college gate, where she offered to help him carry his bag and record scores.
