He did this to streamline the bureau’s operations and eliminate one of the hurdles that investors faced when establishing businesses in the State.

Abiodun explained that he temporarily closed the land bureau before appointing a capable individual to manage it.

Speaking during a meeting with the board and management of Oodua Investment Company Ltd, led by its Group Chairman, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, in Abeokuta, the governor revealed that his administration had acquired an Electronic Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) equipment with the capacity to process 2,000 Certificates of Occupancy daily.

He emphasized the need to overhaul the state’s land bureau by appointing a qualified individual to ensure its efficient operation, with a focus on reflecting the state’s identity and values.

“People are purchasing land, and speculation is prevalent. We had to temporarily close our land department and appoint someone new to oversee land administration in the state,” Abiodun explained.

The governor also mentioned that Ogun State had a backlog of CofOs and that the delay in issuing these certificates had been a significant hindrance in the past.
