Per a statement by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale on Friday night, the President acknowledged the recovery of another portion of the Abacha loot and hailed the signing of a €100 million agreement between Nigeria and France.
This agreement is in support of the i-DICE program, a federal government initiative aimed at fostering investment in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the Creative Arts Industries.
The agreement, endorsed by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Technology, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, was inked at a prior event at Tafawa Balewa House, the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Tinubu praised the enhancement of diplomatic ties between Nigeria and France, citing the positive developments following his visit to Paris after his inauguration.
“Appreciating the positive news on the return of Abacha loot, we value your effective collaboration in repatriating Nigeria’s funds.
This returned money will be wisely utilized to achieve our developmental goals,” the President conveyed to Catherine Colonna, the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, who brought the news.
