In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Oshiomhole criticized Ajaero for his involvement in the election of the NLC chairman in Imo State.

Oshiomhole claimed that Ajaero’s directive to ground Imo and ban flights two weeks ago was untimely, especially leading up to the highly anticipated governorship election on Saturday.

According to Oshiomhole, Ajaero’s actions interfered with the democratic process, as he ordered a transport lockdown in Imo.

Oshiomhole emphasized that even if one opposes the governor, the democratic principle requires allowing people to vote and express their opinions through the electoral process.

The former NLC President highlighted that the conflict between the NLC president and the governor dates back to a dispute over workers’ preferences in the election of the NLC chairman in Imo State Council.

Oshiomhole urged Ajaero to remain impartial and refrain from involving himself in local issues, particularly when dealing with his home state.

He explained that the disagreement over the NLC chairman’s election led to a strike declaration, and the NUEE, the mother union of the NLC president, controls power supply, resulting in a power outage in Imo State.
