The Senate, on the other hand, confirmed Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq as the electoral commissioner for Niger State, rather than Professor Mohammed Yelwa, whose nomination was presented to the upper chamber by President Tinubu last week.
A reliable source from the presidential villa revealed that the commissioner who received Senate confirmation was not the president’s nominee, and Professor Yelwa’s name remained unchanged throughout the process.
The source suggested that the confirmed electoral official was added to the list and screened without approval from the villa, indicating that the alteration had occurred externally. The source recommended inquiring with the Senate about this matter.
During the Senate’s session, seven out of the ten electoral officers were screened and confirmed, including Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq.
