the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and the United Bank for Africa, have pledged their support for the NGE’s annual conference.
Additionally, organizations such as Zenith Bank, Access Bank, the Nigeria Port Authority, and the Dangote Group have also shown interest in supporting the conference organized by the professional association of editors in Nigeria.
In a statement released by NGE President Eze Anaba and General Secretary Dr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren, the Guild highlighted that the substantial backing from Governor Eno and corporate entities represents a strong endorsement of the NGE’s ability to bring together all stakeholders in addressing the current economic challenges in the country.
“We are greatly encouraged by the significant support we have received from the Governor of the host state, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, and numerous corporate organizations.
This support endorses the conference’s intended purpose: to mobilize all stakeholders for a comprehensive discussion aimed at addressing the current economic challenges in the nation,” the Guild stated.
“It also underscores the media’s potential to engage all stakeholders in articulating diverse opinions on governance reform and to foster public consensus for effecting change in society, as well as facilitating trade and disseminating ideas and innovation across borders,” the Guild added.
The upcoming conference, set to be officially inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will feature economic experts and technocrats from both global and local institutions.
They will examine the current state of Nigeria’s economy, focusing on concerns related to monetary and fiscal policy, identified gaps, and the role of media executives and editors in resolving these challenges.
