Nasarawa State Police Command reported the successful elimination of an alleged armed robber identified as Ifienyichukwu Ilegalu, and the arrest of Edache Joseph during a robbery attempt in the Mararaba region of Karu Local Government.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the arrest came as part of a revamped community policing strategy initiated by CP Umar Shehu Nadada, aimed at addressing the surge in robbery incidents in Mararaba.

The operation unfolded on April 5 when the command received intelligence regarding an armed robbery involving a group of eight individuals in the Aso pada area of Mararaba. Promptly, law enforcement officers, alongside vigilant community members, mobilized to confront the criminals, resulting in the death of one suspect and the apprehension of another.

The arrested suspect is currently cooperating with the police in their ongoing investigation.

Commending the collaborative efforts of the police, vigilantes, and local residents, CP Umar Shehu Nadada assured continuous support for such initiatives. He urged the public to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement in purging the state of criminal elements.
