The Plateau State Police Command held a press briefing at their headquarters in Jos on Friday, where Commissioner of Police Hassan Yabanet unveiled 43 suspects, including a counterfeit soldier, apprehended for various crimes such as kidnapping, defilement of a minor, culpable homicide, armed robbery, cultism, and gun smuggling.

According to Yabanet, the arrest stemmed from a report filed by Shedrack Sabo of ATM quarters, Bukuru. Sabo reported that on February 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM, an individual named Lucky Okoh presented himself as a military captain and persuaded Sabo to pay N110,000 for a promised job opportunity.

Upon investigation, Lucky Okoh, a resident of Guratopp, was apprehended by SWAT operatives on March 4, 2024, around 3:00 PM. A search of his residence yielded incriminating evidence, including a military identity card, three Nigerian army recruitment forms, and one NSCDC recruitment form.

Yabanet emphasized that the investigation into the matter is still ongoing, indicating a commitment to pursue justice in the case.
