Mailantarki Joins PDP To ‘Strengthen Opposition’ Against APC In Gombe

Khamisu Mailantarki, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Gombe State for the 2023 election, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In his acceptance speech at the PDP headquarters, Mailantarki explained that his decision aims to strengthen the PDP’s position in Gombe and help the party challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election. He criticized the APC-led government, both at the state and federal levels, for failing to provide effective governance.

“The PDP is the only strong party capable of taking power from the APC, which is why I chose to join after leaving the NNPP,” he said.

Mailantarki also condemned Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s policies, such as revoking land titles and requiring daily biometric check-ins for civil servants, which, if missed, would lead to salary suspension. He highlighted the burden this places on workers amid economic hardship.

Welcoming him, PDP Gombe State Chairman Abner Kwaskebe praised Mailantarki’s decision, calling it a significant win for the party and promising a fair environment for all members.
