Major Injury Blow For Mbappé As France Confirm Knee Tendon Injury
France captain Kylian Mbappé has suffered a tendon injury in his left knee and will leave the national team camp to return to Real Madrid for further treatment.
Mbappé scored the only goal in France’s 1-0 Nations League victory over Turkey at the Kocaeli Stadium, taking his international tally to a record-extending 67 goals. However, the 27-year-old forward appeared to experience discomfort shortly after scoring.
The Real Madrid striker went down on the pitch and received treatment from the French medical team before initially attempting to continue the match. He later fell again and was eventually substituted.
France head coach Zinedine Zidane expressed concern about the injury after the match, saying the team would not take any unnecessary risks with their captain.
“No, it’s not good. It’s not good, unfortunately,” Zidane said while discussing Mbappé’s condition.
He explained that Mbappé had extended his knee while taking the shot that produced the winning goal and indicated that the injury was not encouraging.
The French Football Federation subsequently confirmed that Mbappé had sustained a tendon injury in his left knee and would return to Madrid to receive treatment.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the injury brings Mbappé’s involvement in the current France camp to an end and is expected to rule him out of the team’s remaining fixtures during the September and October international windows.
The development comes after Mbappé had helped France secure victory with his 67th international goal, making the injury an unfortunate conclusion to an otherwise decisive performance for the national captain.
