Speaking on Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony for 40 housing units for Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), she emphasized that the living conditions of judicial officers directly affect their mental and emotional health.

The ceremony was attended by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, members of the National Assembly, traditional leaders, and FCT Area Council Chairmen.

Kekere-Ekun described the project as a significant step in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of judicial officers. She highlighted that providing comfortable and appropriate housing is essential for supporting judges, allowing them to perform their duties with independence and integrity.

“Beyond the courtroom, a supportive living environment is crucial for judges to focus on their significant responsibilities,” she said. “Judicial officers need peace of mind, security, and comfort in their homes to fully commit to the demanding task of interpreting and applying the law.”

She added that the new homes will offer a secure and serene environment, enabling judicial officers to work with greater focus and clarity. Justice Kekere-Ekun also commended the FCT Administration for its proactive approach in implementing this project, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes the welfare of judicial officers.
