The Nigerian Army has launched an inquiry into the demise of Achimugu Etubi, a hotel manager in Abia State, as reported by Naija News. Allegedly, soldiers subjected Etubi to fatal torture in Abia following the purported drowning of Emmanuel Onyemereche, an Air Force cadet, in the hotel’s swimming pool.

In a statement released on Sunday, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, stated that General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has instructed an investigation into soldiers allegedly involved in the manager’s torture.

Expressing deep concern over the alleged unprofessional behavior of its personnel resulting in the tragic death of the hotel manager, Nwachukwu highlighted Lagbaja’s immediate directive for a comprehensive probe to uncover the truth and hold accountable those responsible.

Emphasizing the Army’s commitment to truth and justice, Nwachukwu assured the public of updates upon the investigation’s conclusion.

The statement conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased manager, Mr. Achimugu James Etubi, and the Air Force Officer Cadet, Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyemereche, affirming the Army’s determination to ensure justice prevails.
