The Anambra State Police has provided clarity on the burial proceedings concerning the victims of the tragic Anam boat mishap along the riverside.

According to police reports, three of the deceased individuals were laid to rest near the riverside. However, actor Junior Pope and one other victim remain in the morgue awaiting further arrangements.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, stated in a released statement: “Upon investigation into unverified claims regarding the burial of the recovered bodies, including Junior Pope, near the site of the boat accident, it was found that three families opted for riverside burials for their loved ones.

“However, one family later decided to repatriate the deceased to their home state for a proper burial, while the remaining two individuals were interred by the riverside. Junior Pope and another victim remain in the morgue pending arrangements by their respective families. We urge everyone to adhere to the facts.”

Ikenga further stated, “Additionally, statements have been obtained from the movie producer and the two boat drivers, and the necessary investigative procedures directed by the Commissioner of Police are underway to ascertain any potential criminal responsibility in the incident.
