The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, on Tuesday joined other dignitaries at the State Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, for the official launch of the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), spearheaded by the Office of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
The landmark initiative, which aims to create 2.5 million employment opportunities, was unveiled in the presence of His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima; the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero; along with key cabinet members and stakeholders from across the country.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Engr.Abubakar Momoh FNSE expressed his strong support for the LEEP initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized that sustainable job creation remains critical to national development and regional stability.
“LEEP is more than a program—it’s a promise fulfilled. It speaks directly to the needs of our people at the grassroots. As Minister of Regional Development, I am particularly excited about the ripple effect this will have across our six geopolitical zones, especially in reviving local economies and empowering the youth,” he stated.
Engr. Momoh reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to supporting inter-ministerial efforts that target poverty reduction, youth empowerment, and infrastructural expansion—hallmarks of the ongoing development strides under the Tinubu administration.
The LEEP launch marks a bold step forward in tackling unemployment, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive growth and national productivity.
