Minister Sets Sights On APC Win In Kano For 2027The newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, has declared that his mission is to deliver Kano State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ata, who spoke to reporters after his first visit to Kano following his appointment, emphasized that his political focus is to regain control of Kano for the APC, particularly in the Kano Central region, which he hails from. He said, “My appointment was mainly for political reasons. APC has lost Kano State, and it’s now time to take it back. The main challenge lies in Kano Central, and as someone from that area, I will work tirelessly to ensure APC regains its stronghold.”

While Ata acknowledged his role in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, he made it clear that his political objective remains a priority. “Even as a minister, I will continue to visit Kano regularly, at least once a week, to work towards APC’s return to power in the state,” he added.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment, stating that it was not just for his personal benefit, but for the people of Kano and Nigeria. Ata assured the President that the APC would secure a victory in Kano by 2027. “This is my promise to the President,” he said.

The statement comes amidst controversy over Ata’s appointment. Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, the former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, criticized the decision to replace him with Ata, calling it a misguided political choice. In an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday, Gwarzo suggested that the President should have appointed Nasiru Gawuna, the APC candidate in the 2023 Kano governorship election, to strengthen the party’s position in the Kano Central senatorial district.

In a cabinet reshuffle, President Tinubu had removed Gwarzo along with four other ministers.
