Umahi made this call during his visit to the project site for the dualization of the Calabar-Itu Highway, a project that encompasses the power plant section from Odukpani in Cross River to Oku Iboku in Akwa Ibom.

Sermatech, a local contractor, is responsible for the dualization project, which includes the construction of four bridges.

The Minister commended Sermatech for their outstanding work on the project and encouraged other indigenous contractors to follow their example.

Umahi stated, “The work is fantastic. It is being carried out by an indigenous contractor, and we are proud of their accomplishments. We want more indigenous contractors to come forward, and they can come and learn from Sermatech about what they are doing.”

He also assured contractors that any outstanding payments owed to them would be settled promptly, emphasizing his pride in the work accomplished.

Regarding the project’s future phases, Umahi explained that concrete would be utilized, describing it as “renewed hope enforced concrete agenda.” He attributed the concept of concrete roads to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and emphasized his role in implementing the idea.

The inspection tour was attended by Mr. Isioma Ezi-ashi, the Managing Director of Sermatech; Dr. Joe Ukpata, the Project Manager; and Iheanacho Chibieze, the Site Engineer.
