During a celebratory reception at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu bestowed the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each player and technical team member.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also approved a three-bedroom apartment for each team member under the government’s Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, along with a cash reward equivalent to $100,000 for each player and $50,000 for each coach.

“You’ve inspired millions, especially young girls, showing that dreams are valid and attainable,” Tinubu said. “You’ve inspired me too. You are a symbol of hope, and we’ll continue to support you and the next generations.”

Reflecting on the emotional intensity of the final match, the President shared, “I didn’t want to watch initially — I feared my blood pressure would rise. But when it became 2-0, I got anxious. After the penalty goal, my spirits — and that of the nation — lifted.”

Amid cheers, Tinubu joked about how the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, nearly abandoned dinner to watch the game, highlighting the nationwide excitement.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to developing sports in Nigeria, especially women’s football, describing the team as champions of both Africa and the Nigerian dream.

In an additional gesture, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced a ₦10 million donation for each player and coach on behalf of the 36 governors.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hailed the Super Falcons as outstanding role models. “You played with heart and unity. Your resilience and spirit are truly commendable. You reminded the world of Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football,” she said.

She also expressed optimism about the team’s future. “I told Mr. President this morning that you’re on your way to winning the World Cup,” she said, drawing support from team captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Ajibade, speaking on behalf of the team, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “This is for every Nigerian girl who dreams of greatness. Our victory is not just a trophy; it is proof of our nation’s resilience.”

Calling for sustained investment in women’s football, Ajibade added, “This 10th title is for you, Mr. President, for Nigerians, for the Super Falcons, and for every child who dreams of reaching this stage.”

National Sports Commission Chairman, Shehu Dikko, praised the team’s success as a moment of national pride and unity. He credited Tinubu’s support for sports and women’s empowerment as a driving force behind the Falcons’ achievement.

“Beyond the game, this victory symbolizes national cohesion. In those 90 minutes, Nigerians everywhere united in hope, passion, and celebration,” Dikko stated.

He also commended the First Lady for her unwavering support of women in sports, emphasizing the administration’s belief in the unifying power of football and its potential to uplift the nation.
