Naira Battles Dollar Again As Exchange Rate Changes At Official Market
The Nigerian naira recorded a fresh movement against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as the currency continued to trade around the ₦1,329 mark.
According to Bush Radio Academy, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira closed at ₦1,329.8568 to the US dollar on Wednesday.
The latest figure represents a slight change from the previous day’s rate of ₦1,329.1485 per dollar, indicating a marginal movement in the official foreign exchange market.
At the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, the naira reportedly closed at about ₦1,394 to the dollar on Wednesday.
However, actual rates offered by commercial banks, Bureau de Change operators and other foreign exchange dealers may vary from the reference figures due to transaction margins as well as prevailing demand and supply conditions.
Market participants are expected to continue monitoring foreign exchange inflows, demand for the US dollar and developments in CBN policies as the market moves through the month.
The movement of the naira against the dollar remains a key concern for businesses, travellers, importers and other Nigerians whose transactions are affected by changes in foreign exchange rates.
