According to Napoli’s statement, the Nigerian striker underwent “personalized training” on Friday and will continue this regimen on Saturday, coinciding with his team’s match against Genoa in Naples.

However, Osimhen is expected to feature in the starting lineup for Napoli’s Champions League first-leg encounter against Barcelona. The Italian side will host the Catalan giants on Wednesday night.

The 25-year-old’s last appearance for Napoli was in a 2-0 loss to Roma just before Christmas, a match where he received a red card. Subsequently, he joined his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast, where Nigeria was defeated by the host nation in a thrilling final.

Despite being a star forward, Osimhen managed to score only one goal throughout the tournament, which came in Nigeria’s opening 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

Napoli’s Serie A title defense has been disappointing this season, with the team currently sitting in ninth place following the departure of their title-winning coach Luciano Spalletti.
