Oyetunde explained that the NPC adheres to an Act established in 1992, and as a result, individuals born prior to this year will not be issued birth certificates. Instead, they will receive an Attestation of Birth. Birth certificates, however, will be issued to those below 18 years of age.

Highlighting the widespread availability of birth and death registration centers, Oyetunde assured that each local government in the state possesses multiple registration centers, with a minimum of three in each.

He emphasized that the certificates issued at these centers are uniform and universally accepted, irrespective of where they are presented.

Addressing the status of the National Population and Housing Census initially planned for 2023, Oyetunde assured that all preparations for the exercise were complete. He noted that the only requirement for the census to proceed was the green light from the Federal Government. Oyetunde confirmed the distribution of all necessary materials to local governments and stated that participants had undergone training, expressing readiness to commence the census once officially sanctioned.
