In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, NBC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Susan Obi, expressed the commission’s dismay over the October 14 incident at Urban Radio 94.5 FM during a live broadcast. The EFCC’s actions were aimed at arresting the program’s presenter, Favour Ekoh, which the NBC views as a breach of broadcasting ethics, especially during a live show.

Obi criticized the approach taken by the EFCC, highlighting concerns that it could have caused public disorder, mass panic, and hysteria. “While we appreciate the EFCC’s efforts in combating financial crimes, we regret the manner in which this incident unfolded,” she stated.

The NBC extended heartfelt apologies to the listening public, the people of Enugu, and the entire broadcasting community for the incident. She urged the public to remain law-abiding while the legal process unfolds and called on media professionals to uphold ethical standards in their duties.
