NDC Sparks Debate With Decision To Zone Presidency To South Ahead Of 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This was revealed on Monday by party chieftain and elder statesman, Buba Galadima, during an interview on Channels Television.
Galadima stated that the party’s position is clear and final, noting that there is no ambiguity about where its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections will emerge from, as the ticket has been firmly allocated to the South.
He also addressed concerns about compliance with electoral requirements, assuring that the NDC would meet the deadline for submitting its membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to him, the party plans to complete the submission by Tuesday or Wednesday.
“We have zoned the party’s presidential ticket to the South. There is no doubt about it. Anyone from the South interested in running should register immediately,” Galadima said.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports suggesting he plans to defect to the NDC following Peter Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the reports as false.
The statement, titled “This is FAKE NEWS,” also refuted claims that he had held any secret discussions with NDC officials, insisting that he remains committed to the ADC and its objective of repositioning Nigeria.
