NDF Demands Wike’s Commitment To FCT Amid Ongoing Rivers Conflict
The Nigeria Democratic Front (NDF) has accused the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, of prioritizing his political feud with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State over the pressing needs of Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Saturday, NDF claimed Wike is using his position to pursue personal political agendas instead of addressing critical issues facing the FCT. The statement, signed by spokesman Engr. Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, urged Wike to concentrate on his responsibilities, especially in light of rising insecurity and educational challenges.
“The Federal Capital is grappling with significant issues that require dedicated leadership,” the NDF emphasized. They highlighted a concerning statistic indicating a 35% increase in out-of-school children in the FCT over the past two years, which they attributed to Wike’s lack of focus on developmental matters.
“It is inappropriate for a Federal Minister to prioritize personal political vendettas over public duty or use federal resources to fuel conflicts in Rivers State while neglecting pressing issues in Abuja,” the statement continued.
The NDF pointed to Wike’s alleged actions aimed at destabilizing PDP-controlled states, interfering with local governance in Rivers, attempting to impeach the state’s sitting governor, and halting federal allocations to local governments in Rivers. They condemned these actions as “mischievous” and warned they could exacerbate tensions and undermine the credibility of the APC-led administration.
“The socio-political climate is already tense, and actions that prioritize personal ambitions over public welfare only deepen instability. Nigerians are tired of political theatrics; the FCT deserves a leader committed to real solutions,” NDF concluded.
