NDLEA Arrests Hair Stylist And Rider For Peddling Drug-Infused Chin-Chin To Students....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
20-year-old hairstylist, Josephine Odunu, and 30-year-old dispatch rider, Edesemi Ikporo, were apprehended by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives for the distribution of illicit drug-infused chin-chin to both school students and social gatherings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
Additionally, NDLEA officers made significant arrests elsewhere, including the capture of two wanted individuals, Ajim Samuel (alias Boss), 30, and Davidson John Joshua (alias Dantala), 36, in Adamawa state. The pair was intercepted while transporting a consignment of tramadol, amounting to 14,428 pills, concealed in their black Honda Civic car marked YLA 623 SL along the Numan-Jalingo road.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that the arrests yielded further discoveries, including 21 grams of cannabis and monetary exhibits totaling N19,280.
In another operation, a commercial bus driver, Ogunleye Adegoke, 49, was apprehended in Osun state along Gbongan-Ibadan road. NDLEA operatives found 2,000 capsules of tramadol, 60 tablets of rohypnol, and 10 bottles of codeine syrup concealed in the spare tire compartment of his vehicle.
Further investigations led to the interception of a motorcycle dispatch rider, Edesemi, by NDLEA officers patrolling the Opolo area of Yenagoa on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was found carrying 200 grams of chin-chin infused with cannabis sativa intended for delivery to a buyer. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of Josephine, who was identified as a major distributor of the drugged chin-chin from her salon in Kpansia area, Yenagoa. A search of the salon resulted in the recovery of 3.00 kilograms, bringing the total confiscated substance to 3.2 kg.
Further investigations revealed that the duo distributed the drug-laced chin-chin, commonly infused with cannabis and tramadol, to students and at social gatherings.
Additionally, NDLEA officers seized 343,000 pills of opioids from a suspect, Lawan Abubakar, 33, in Azare town, Bauchi state, and transferred another suspect, Muhammadu Rabi’u, 37, with 64,000 pills of tramadol to the Bauchi state command.
Other significant seizures included 24 kg of cannabis in Ogun state, 125.3 kg of cannabis, 3,400 pills of tramadol, and 30 bottles of codeine syrup in Kano state.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the efforts of NDLEA commands across the country and acknowledged their commitment to the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, emphasizing the importance of both drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.
