After the passing of the Emir of Tikau, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has officially sanctioned the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammadu Ibn Grema as the new Emir of the Tikau Emirate Council. This decision was conveyed in a statement released on Tuesday by the State Secretary, Baba Malam Wali. The statement highlighted that the selection of the new Emir was made unanimously by the Tikau Emirate Council’s kingmakers.

Alhaji Abubakar Muhammadu Ibn Grema, being the eldest son of the late Emir of Tikau, has been chosen to succeed his father. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension, along with a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, and is pursuing a doctorate in Rural Development. With a background in academia and professional experience at Yobe State University, Alhaji Abubakar was previously serving as the Principal Manager of Yobe State University Farm before his elevation to the esteemed position of Emir.

The appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammadu Ibn Grema is effective immediately, as outlined in the statement.
