Earlier this week, the governor approved Adegbola’s reappointment as the traditional ruler of Eruwa, following his previous removal in 2019 due to a Supreme Court ruling. Adegbola, who had initially been installed in 1998, was deposed after the court’s decision.

During his address, Governor Makinde acknowledged that the issue surrounding the Eruwa chieftaincy had persisted since 2019, leaving the community without traditional leadership. He noted that Adegbola had served for 21 years before his removal.

The governor explained that the kingmakers of Eruwa had conducted a fresh selection process and unanimously chose Adegbola from the Akalako ruling house. He emphasized that his role was to officially endorse the kingmakers’ decision without interference.

Makinde also highlighted the importance of traditional rulers in society, saying, “They are closer to the people.” He assured that his administration would continue to support and uphold the traditional institution in the state.

Sharing photos of the event on his handle, the governor wrote: “This afternoon, I presented the staff and instruments of office to Kabiyesi, His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa. As I mentioned in my remarks, Kabiyesi was nominated by the kingmakers, and all we’ve done is to endorse that nomination. Our administration will continue to protect and support our traditional institution. May Kabiyesi’s reign be prosperous and long, and may the people of Eruwa benefit from his leadership.
