In a statement signed by Comrade Alhassan Habibu Kpada on behalf of the youth in the communities, it was emphasized that the abandoned infrastructure has hindered local economies. “This road is crucial as it connects Gulu via Lapai Local Government in Niger State to Yaba Abaji in FCT, Abuja, boosting the local economy, generating government revenue, and facilitating tax collection,” the statement reads.
Residents expressed their frustration at the lack of government action, despite their attempts to support local businesses and maintain the road through community-led repairs. They are calling for immediate intervention from the local government chairman, the state government, and federal authorities to complete the project.
“It is disheartening to note that while the community bears the burden of repairing the road, the government reaps the benefits,” Kpada stated.
The citizens are demanding a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the project’s halt and accountability from MRS A4 Venture Limited, project stakeholders, and relevant government bodies. They seek to uncover the causes of the stagnation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
In addition, they are requesting immediate relief and support to mitigate further damage caused by the delays. “As patriotic citizens who have worked tirelessly to support both past and present administrations, we cannot stand idly by and watch this issue undermine the renewed hope for a better future,” the statement concluded.
The call for urgent intervention has resonated throughout the affected regions, with residents eagerly awaiting a response from the relevant authorities.
