An investigation has revealed that the majority of paracetamol tablets sold in Nigeria may be inadequately dosed, failing to meet the standards specified by the British Pharmacopoeia and World Health Organisation (WHO). The study, titled ‘Comparative Analysis of Five Different Brands of Paracetamol Sold in Nigeria with British Pharmacopoeia Standards,’ examined samples from five paracetamol brands, each claiming to contain 500mg. Researchers expressed concern about potential treatment failure due to the underdosing of paracetamol tablets.
