Nigerian Authorities Reach Out To Labor Unions For Joint Initiatives On Employee Well-being

The Federal Government has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to collaborate in advancing workers’ well-being and national productivity. Mrs. Onyejeocha explained that the visit was part of the Ministry’s strategy to engage key stakeholders and garner support for the government’s objectives in the labor sector. She underscored the significance of labor unions’ cooperation, noting that without it, enhancing the conditions of Nigerian workers would be challenging.

The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers, encompassing aspects such as health and the working environment. She expressed a willingness to collaborate with the NLC to ensure worker satisfaction and emphasized the government’s interest in improving wages.

“We are also keen on the wages they earn. We will collaborate with you to guarantee the satisfaction of Nigerian workers. I am confident that you will cooperate with the government to enhance our economy; each time a strike is initiated, the Nigerian economy suffers, leading to significant losses,” she remarked.
