In a heartfelt statement released on Thursday, the family described him as the “constant anchor” of their household, celebrating his character, principles, and unwavering devotion to both family and country.
“He was the world’s most extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather—steady, wise, endlessly loving, and the unshakable foundation of our family,” the statement read.
The family also highlighted Awolowo’s lifelong commitment to national development, honoring him as a selfless public servant guided by integrity and passion.
“A profoundly loyal servant of Nigeria, he dedicated his life to the nation with vision, integrity, passion, and unwavering commitment,” the family added.
Awolowo held the position of Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) from 2013 to 2021, where he played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s non-oil export strategy and strengthening trade frameworks.
During his tenure, the council introduced initiatives to diversify Nigeria’s export base, earning him wide respect across government and the private sector.
Born on September 27, 1963, he was celebrated for his calm demeanor, strategic thinking, and steadfast dedication to public service.
The family’s statement expressed deep gratitude for his life and contributions, noting that he lived with purpose and left a lasting impact on the nation and all who knew him.
