Disturbing video footage shared by Makama depicted the gang members savagely assaulting and stabbing the police constable, who was part of the CRACK squad in Maiduguri. The video revealed over ten youths viciously beating Babagana, repeatedly punching, stomping, clubbing, and kicking him. They also stole his gun and fatally stabbed him. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Borno State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a female associated with the murder, while the main culprits are still at large.

This incident adds to the escalating violence in Maiduguri, as rival cult groups, including the notorious “Malian Boys,” have been clashing, causing fear and danger to the residents. These groups have been responsible for several deaths and injuries inflicted on innocent citizens in the state.

The recent attack on a shop and destruction of property appears to be a reprisal against the shop owner, who allegedly killed a member of the criminal group during a previous altercation.

Authorities are working to address the rise in violence and bring the perpetrators to justice as the security situation remains concerning in Maiduguri.
