He stated, “Alert! All Nigerians in Lebanon are expected to get in touch with the Nigerian mission for profiling and documentation and subsequent evacuation.” This directive comes in the wake of a significant military escalation, as Iran launched 180 missiles toward Israel on the same day.

The missile strikes were reportedly a retaliation for the killings of leaders affiliated with Iran-backed militant groups, causing widespread alarm in Israel and sending residents to seek shelter. The Israeli military confirmed that missiles were fired from Iran, prompting sirens to sound throughout the country, according to AFP.

After approximately an hour, the military assessed that the threat had subsided, declaring that it was safe for citizens to leave protected areas. They noted that a substantial number of Iranian missiles had been intercepted. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported success in intercepting the missiles launched by Iran during the attack.

This marked Iran’s second missile attack on Israel this year, following a missile and drone strike in April that targeted Israel in retaliation for an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. According to AFP journalists, explosions were heard over Jerusalem, with rescuers reporting that two individuals sustained minor injuries from shrapnel in central Israel. Iran’s state news agency IRNA announced that the Islamic Republic had conducted “a missile attack on Tel Aviv,” Israel’s economic center.
