In the 2024 budget, the Federal Government has earmarked N100 million for the establishment of a modern mini stadium in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The initiative, identified by the code ERGP20242797, will be spearheaded by Representative Jeremiah Umaru and executed by the Centre for Management Development (CMD), an agency operating under the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

Insiders suggest that this groundbreaking project, the first of its kind in Nasarawa North, is slated to kick off in either April or May, subsequent to the successful contract award.

Concurrently, Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has disclosed plans for the inauguration of a newly constructed mini stadium facilitated by the state government in Akwanga. During the final match of the 2024 Nasarawa North Football Competition, generously sponsored by Silas Agara, Gusau emphasized that the unveiling of the mini stadium signifies a significant leap forward in sports infrastructure development within the Nasarawa North district.

Jafaru Ango, the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development for the state, shared that the state government has already initiated construction efforts on the mini stadium in the past three months. However, the progress has encountered a setback due to pending approval for the designated land on which the stadium is intended to be built.
