Nigerian Man Sparks Reactions After Spending 10 Minutes Fighting Keke Rider Over ₦100 Change
A Nigerian man identified as @Ossaiovictor1 on X, formerly Twitter, has sparked reactions online after recounting how he spent about 10 minutes waiting for a tricycle operator to return his ₦100 change.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the man shared the experience on X, explaining that the disagreement began when the keke rider failed to provide the balance owed to him.
He said the driver attempted to obtain change from other tricycle operators but was unsuccessful, prolonging the situation and leaving other passengers wondering why the man would not simply forfeit the ₦100.
The situation reportedly continued until a female passenger became frustrated and intervened, telling the driver to return the man’s money and offering to pay the amount herself.
According to the account shared online, the woman eventually settled the matter, allowing the driver and passengers to continue their journey.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions among social media users, with some supporting the man’s decision to insist on receiving his money while others criticised the length of time spent over the relatively small amount.
One user argued that passengers should not be expected to abandon their change, stressing that every amount of money matters, particularly amid the current economic challenges.
Another commenter maintained that the man was entitled to his money and had every right to demand it from the driver.
However, some users criticised the decision to prolong the disagreement, arguing that the delay inconvenienced other passengers who were also trying to reach their destinations.
Another social media user praised the female passenger for intervening and suggested that people should appreciate her willingness to resolve the dispute.
The incident has renewed online discussions about the importance of returning passengers’ change, mutual consideration and the need to resolve everyday disagreements without unnecessarily delaying others.
