In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 9, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, revealed that the operation targeted a notorious criminal enclave known as Gidan Drama, located along Malu Road.
According to Ibrahim, the operation was carried out on Saturday, April 5, 2025, by personnel from NNS Beecroft, following credible intelligence on the presence of suspected drug dealers in the area.
He stated, “The raid was executed based on actionable intelligence which prompted the deployment of Operation MESA to Gidan Drama. During the mission, 27 individuals—comprising 24 men and three women—were apprehended with various hard drugs and illicit substances in their possession.”
The Navy emphasized that the successful operation reflects its firm resolve to combat the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs, especially among youths, which poses serious threats to both public health and national security.
Ibrahim added that all suspects, along with the confiscated drugs, have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
