Amidst the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria, students across tertiary institutions are actively engaging in discussions regarding the nation’s current state and its path forward.

In a recent gathering facilitated by Yiaga Africa in partnership with the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and supported by the Open Society Foundation, students from various universities such as the University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University of Technology Akure, and Tai Solarin University of Education, Sagamu, came together to deliberate on governance, leadership, and administration in Nigeria.

Under the theme “My Nigeria, Our Nigerian Debate,” participants expressed their disappointment and frustration with the present circumstances while maintaining hope for a better future.

Blessing Obasi, a student from Tai Solarin University of Education, voiced her dissatisfaction with the government’s performance but remained optimistic about Nigeria’s potential for improvement. She stressed the importance of perseverance, affirming their commitment to advocating for change.

Osunsakin Samuel, a student at Federal University of Technology, Akure, encouraged his peers to maintain a positive outlook and actively engage in governance matters, emphasizing the crucial role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future.
