Nigerians Respond To VP Shettima’s Promise Of 50 Trucks Of Rice For Maiduguri Flood Victims

Some Nigerians have voiced their opinions following Vice President Kashim Shettima’s announcement that the Federal Government has sanctioned the dispatch of 50 trucks of rice to assist victims of the recent devastating flood in Maiduguri, Borno State.

On Tuesday, Shettima, acting on President Tinubu’s directive, visited Maiduguri to offer his condolences to the thousands displaced by the disaster.

During his visit to the Bakassi IDP camp, Shettima urged the displaced individuals to view their plight as a test of faith.

Accompanied by the state governor and other officials, Shettima traveled in a military truck to reach the Shehu of Borno’s palace, which had been severely affected by the floods.

Addressing the Borno Monarch, Shettima extended his sympathies to the Emirate Council, stating, “We are here to express our condolences for this unfortunate event. The Federal Government has approved 50 trucks of rice, which are en route to Maiduguri for distribution to the victims.”

Reactions to the announcement varied. One commenter remarked, “Lmaoooooo! Seriously? They’ll give you rice if you complain about high electricity tariffs too.”
