Video Coverage: Mohbad’s Family At Coroner’s Inquest Addressing Son’s Death

The coroner’s inquest into the death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, continued today, September 11, at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, with both of Mohbad’s parents present.

A video circulating online captures the moment Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, did not acknowledge his ex-wife when she greeted him. Instead, he tapped her on the back without making eye contact or speaking.

The parents have been at odds regarding the circumstances of their son’s death. Joseph Aloba has raised suspicions about foul play involving Wunmi, Mohbad’s widow, and has requested a DNA test for his grandchild. Conversely, Mohbad’s mother had supported Wunmi, though their relationship has since deteriorated.

The inquest, which began on September 29, 2023, aims to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023. After his burial the following day, his body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). The autopsy report indicated no significant findings to explain his death.

Mohbad’s family has rejected these results and is calling for an independent investigation.

Notably absent from the court today were singer Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry, who had been summoned as key witnesses.
